Overview
St Mary’s Place is a development of nine high-quality supported living apartments in the heart of Bury town centre – one of the most significant projects in the Mortimer Group portfolio and a clear expression of our commitment to social impact alongside commercial performance.
The scheme was developed in response to a genuine and growing need: the shortage of quality, compliant specialist accommodation for people who require supported living arrangements within their own community.
The Detail
The project involved the redevelopment of an existing building into nine self-contained apartments designed specifically for supported living. The scheme operates as a Specialised Supported Housing development, delivered in close partnership with experienced support providers who ensure residents have access to the care and assistance they need.
Every aspect of the scheme – from the layout of the apartments to the management structure – was designed with the residents in mind. The aim was not just to meet regulatory standards, but to create homes that people could genuinely live well in.
The Outcome
Nine people now have a safe, stable, high-quality home in the centre of Bury – with the support they need to live independently. St Mary’s Place demonstrates what’s possible when commercial investment and social purpose are treated as complementary rather than competing goals. It’s a project we’re genuinely proud of.
